Keynote Title: The Next Generation of Internet Enabled Devices – Are We Ready?
Abstract: This keynote session will focus on the evolution of change in functionality of “smart” electrical components and how this will impact systems applied across the process industries. Communication ready devices and robust low-cost networks enable management of process information and data analytics that will offer a step change in functionality, reliability, productivity, safety and sustainability. Discussions on how industry will need to adapt to these changing trends and the impact on the business in key areas such as cybersecurity and skills in the workforce will be addressed.
Biography: Luiz serves as a director for Eaton responsible for the company’s Electrical Sector Centers of Excellence for advanced technologies and platform creation for the next generation of intelligent power management solutions. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Irvine and M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Prior to joining Eaton, Luiz had a 20-year career with United Technologies Corporation leading engineering organizations under several UTC business units including UTC Climate, Controls & Security, UTC Fire & Security, and UT Research Center.
